Pentecost Sunday

Praying for Israel

On Pentecost, the Holy Spirit filled his people with power and 3,000 Jews became believers in Jesus Christ! Peter declares that this outpouring of the Holy Spirit was prophesied in the Old Testament by the prophet Joel.

“But this is what was uttered through the prophet Joel: “ ‘And in the last days it shall be, God declares, that I will pour out my Spirit on all flesh, and your sons and your daughters shall prophesy, and your young men shall see visions, and your old men shall dream dreams; even on my male servants and female servants in those days I will pour out my Spirit, and they shall prophesy. And I will show wonders in the heavens above and signs on the earth below, blood, and fire, and vapor of smoke; the sun shall be turned to darkness and the moon to blood, before the day of the Lord comes, the great and magnificent day. And it shall come to pass that everyone who calls upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.’ Joel 2:28-32

Praise and Give Thanks

Let us praise the Holy Spirit for He is Holy and dwelling in our hearts. Give thanks to the Holy Spirit for He renewed our dead spirits and opened our eyes to the Truth of God’s Word. Let us ask to see Him more clearly, recognize His prompting/work in our lives and make us sensitive so that we can follow Him more closely.

Cry out

Pray with faith and a new boldness, and ask the Holy Spirit to fill us with the Holy Spirit and help us be obedient when we recognize His leading in our daily lives. Strive daily to walk in the Spirit, the One who produces good fruit in our lives: love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control. (Galatians 5:22-26)

Praying for all Israel to be Saved

Pray for the fullness of the Gentile nations to be saved. Pray for the salvation of all Israel!

“Brothers, my heart’s desire and prayer to God for them is that they may be saved” (Romans 10:1).

“I do not want you to be unaware of this mystery, brothers: a partial hardening has come upon Israel, until the fullness of the Gentiles has come in. And in this way all Israel will be saved, as it is written, “The Deliverer will come from Zion, he will banish ungodliness from Jacob”; and this will be my covenant with them when I take away their sins” (Romans 11:25-27).

Pray that Gentile Believers will make Israel Jealous/Envious

“So I ask, did they stumble in order that they might fall? By no means! Rather, through their trespass salvation has come to the Gentiles, so as to make Israel jealous” (Romans 11:11).

Pray for God to send forth laborers like the apostle Paul to proclaim the gospel both to the Gentile nations and to the unbelieving Jews around the world!

“Now I am speaking to you Gentiles. Inasmuch then as I am an apostle to the Gentiles, I magnify my ministry in order somehow to make my fellow Jews jealous, and thus save some of them” (Romans 11:13-14).

“When he saw the crowds, he had compassion for them, because they were harassed and helpless, like sheep without a shepherd. Then he said to his disciples, “The harvest is plentiful, but the laborers are few; therefore pray earnestly to the Lord of the harvest to send out laborers into his harvest” (Matthew 9:36-39).

“For I am not ashamed of the gospel, for it is the power of God for salvation to everyone who believes, to the Jew first and also to the Greek” (Romans 1:16).

Pray for Israel to see the Lamb who was slain, “the one whom they have pierced.”

“And I will pour out on the house of David and the inhabitants of Jerusalem a spirit of grace and pleas for mercy, so that, when they look on him whom they have pierced, they shall mourn for him, as one mourns for an only child, and weep bitterly over him, as one weeps over a firstborn” (Zechariah 12:10).

“On that day there shall be a fountain opened for the house of David and the inhabitants of Jerusalem, to cleanse them from sin and uncleanness” (Zechariah 13:1).

Praying for the outpouring of the Spirit upon the people of Israel and for a youth awakening!

“For I will pour water on the thirsty land, and streams on the dry ground; I will pour my Spirit upon your offspring, and my blessing on your descendants. They shall spring up among the grass like willows by flowing streams. This one will say, ‘I am the LORD’s,’ another will call on the name of Jacob, and another will write on his hand, ‘The LORD’s,’ and name himself by the name of Israel” (Isaiah 44:3-5).

Pray that God would post watchman (pray-ers) on the walls of Jerusalem until her righteousness goes forth as brightness, and she becomes a praise on the earth!

“For Zion’s sake I will not keep silent, and for Jerusalem’s sake I will not be quiet, until her righteousness goes forth as brightness, and her salvation as a burning torch…On your walls, O Jerusalem, I have set watchmen; all the day and all the night they shall never be silent. You who put the LORD in remembrance, take no rest” (Isaiah 62:1, 6-7).

Pray for the gospel to go forth along the Isaiah 19 Highway, ‘Egypt, Assyria, and Israel”

“In that day there will be a highway from Egypt to Assyria, and Assyria will come into Egypt, and Egypt into Assyria, and the Egyptians will worship with the Assyrians. 24 In that day Israel will be the third with Egypt and Assyria, a blessing in the midst of the earth, 25 whom the LORD of hosts has blessed, saying, “Blessed be Egypt my people, and Assyria the work of my hands, and Israel my inheritance” (Isaiah 19:23-25).

Pray for the peace of Jerusalem

“Pray for the peace of Jerusalem! “May they be secure who love you! 7 Peace be within your walls and security within your towers” (Psalm 122:6-7).
