I live in Surat, the bustling diamond and textile capital of Gujarat. From glittering workshops where diamonds are cut with precision to vibrant looms weaving silk and cotton, the city never seems to rest. The air hums with the rhythm of labor—the scent of spices mingling with the noise of machines—as people from across India arrive here in search of opportunity and a better life. Yet amid all this movement, I see hearts quietly searching—for hope, for meaning, for the peace that only Jesus can give.
When I walk along the Tapi River or through the crowded markets, I’m struck by both the brilliance and the burden of this place. Families work long hours, children labor beside their parents, and the distance between wealth and poverty is painfully wide. Yet, in hidden corners, I see small glimpses of God’s Kingdom breaking through—moments of kindness, shared meals, whispered prayers, and lives beginning to open to truth.
The children weigh heaviest on my heart—the little ones tucked into narrow lanes or sleeping near factories, unseen and unprotected. I believe God is moving among them, stirring His people to love deeply and act courageously—to bring His light into forgotten spaces.
I am here to follow Jesus in Surat—to pray, to serve, and to carry His love into every market, workshop, and home. I long for the day when Surat will not only be known for its diamonds and textiles, but for hearts transformed by the light of Christ, the true treasure of immeasurable worth.
Pray for the working poor and child laborers, that they would encounter compassion, justice, and the redeeming love of Jesus. (Proverbs 14:31)
Pray for business leaders and artisans in the diamond and textile industries to use their influence for good and to encounter God’s wisdom. (James 1:5)
Pray for the churches in Surat to be united and bold in reaching the city’s diverse communities with humility and power. (Ephesians 4:3–4)
Pray for revival among the youth and families who are seeking identity and stability amid economic pressure. (Psalm 34:18)
Pray for Surat to become a city of light, where the love of Jesus shines brighter than any gem, bringing transformation to every sphere of life. (Matthew 5:14–16)
